She’s so pretty. Even when she does nothing.

Shot one night, in 2006. I had this 3.2mp point and shoot, and was just starting to figure out things about apertures and longer exposures. I took several shots of her this night, but I always liked this one best, for the colors, and because of how muscular she looks.

Prior to this, I predominantly shot landscapes and architectural photos. While my interest in fuller-figured women had always been apparent, my interest in shooting living subjects was just taking off.

If you keep following, you’ll see that I have hundreds more photos, most of which I’d like to get around to posting, but that doesn’t mean I’m not always looking to shoot, and post more. If you’re interested in modeling, or if you’d like to share photos of your own, send emailhere.

In a recent episode of South Park, Butters is transfixed by Kim Kardashian’s butt. He describes it as “big mountain of pudding”. While Kim Kardashian couldn’t be less interesting to me, I appreciate his sentiment.

Dear Friends,

I have decided that I don’t want to do this anymore. Not as is. Something has to change.

When I started last April, I had set out with a catalog of photos, and few opinions on fatty love that I felt like expressing, but as the months have rolled on by, my eyes have been opened to a number of facts, and a revelation or two about myself. It was pointed out to me by someone whose opinion I trust, that the blog has a foot in two worlds. One in the realm of size acceptance/fat positivity, aka “The Fatosphere”, and another in the realm of fatshion photography/glamorizing, and/or sexually objectifying big beautiful women.

It occurs to me that The Fatosphere has no need for this site. There are a number of fantastic sites and bloggers occupying a niche where I can never hope to offer up something of the quality that is already in place. For a time, I had a few great contributors, and that made a difference. Perhaps I will launch a recruitment campaign. Some fresh voices, any voices other than my own might just be the booster shot needed to wake the site up. Besides, I’m too busy with the tedium of making a living. Any writers out there with something to say? You get first dibs before I go to Craigslist.

Regarding the photography, it is something I love, and is intrinsic to my personal satisfaction. I’m not about to let that go, however I’m thinking a new outlet is important, though I’m not sure exactly what that will be. ChubbyUnderground.com? Maybe.

I can say that I am disappointed, and often disgusted with the majority of the response to my work, on the various social media outlets. Too many people view the term ‘BBW’ as nothing more than a category of pornography, the more outspoken of them attempt to “friend” me by showing me photos of their nasty, spooge oozing genitalia. Some use my social media sites as a platform for asserting their horny presences, and attempting to solicit a response from female readers. I did not set out to create a dating site, just as surely as have no interest in seeing photos of erections. If I have missed the mark in my attempts at celebrating the full-figured female form, I don’t know what I could have done differently, but I know that I am not happy with the majority of the response.

That said, don’t be surprised to see some changes. If I knew what they were going to be, I’d tell you. I’m open to suggestions.

I first heard of Dave Cooper around the turn of the century. While the world was getting it’s Y2K on, I was smitten with funny books, and my friend Fredo had turned me onto this great series called Weasel. Each new edition featured a chapter of Ripple, a story about an artist obsessed with Tina, his fat model.

Years later, Dave Cooper is doing more fine art painting, and less comic illustration, but I was thrilled to see some of his characters animated in this video for Danko Jones.

I was cleaning out some files when I stumbled across this funny scan of an old post card, and it reminded me that I haven’t posted anything on here for a while.

I’d like to post more, but I have to be practical and focus on some ventures that make money. In the meantime, I’m always open to accepting contributions from writers, photographers, artists, etc…

I’ll be publishing more photos than words, at least until I get a little more balance on, but I don’t expect many complaints. Most of the feedback I get is from ignorant guys who don’t bother to read any of this, and proceed to hit on me, because they think I’m one of the women in the photos. Lucky me.

As a photographer of plus size models, I was pleased to come across adipositivity.com (NSFW), featuring the fine photography of Substantia Jones, and eye-candy models for those of us who appreciate a big, voluptuous physique.

Upon my discovery of the site, I was intrigued, and I wanted to know more. A search led me to another blog featuring Substantia Jones, in a piece called Big Girls in Art. The article raised an interesting point, one which I never would have considered, the existence of something called the Headless Fatty. We all know him/her; the unflattering gut, gunt, frontbutt, fupa or fat ass which fills the frame, in a televised news segment on obesity.

The post goes onto to compare Substantia’s fine art photos to the images of “Headless Fatties”, and I can see the author’s point about wishing “she had included the faces as a way of forcing viewers to confront the woman in her entirety, with each subject’s face and personality and unique visage represented along with her body.” Fair enough.

Apples and Oranges, I say. Statement-making or not, I’m a fan of the imagery. It raises the bar higher for my own photographic pursuits (NSFW), and I also found a couple of great new Fat Positive blogs.
